MR. Matthew Gerhold

Bachelor of Vocal Music Education
(Concordia University (Seward, NE), 2019)

Mr. Gerhold is the new assistant choir director at LHS. He comes to us from Colfax-Mingo Community School District, and he has been teaching for 5 years. Mr. G has a Bachelors in Vocal Music Ed, a Masters in Voice Performance and Pedagogy, and has sung in many choirs all his life. Mr. G is extremely excited to join the LHS vocal music program and proud of being a member of the Lincoln community.  Some of Mr. G’s hobbies outside of music include traveling, cooking, watching baseball, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. Go Railsplitters!

Mr. Brandon Record grew up in Gillette, Wyoming, where he participated in honor choirs, musicals and sang as a soloist across the nation. Upon graduation, Mr. Record moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to attend The University of Sioux Falls for a Bachelors of Music Education with an Emphasis in Voice and Vocal Pedagogy.

After leaving Sioux Falls, Mr. Record moved to Des Moines to teach at Hiatt Middle School for two years and then moved to Lincoln High School in Fall of 2022.

Outside of his work at Lincoln, he is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Des Moines Diversity Chorus, is a Teaching Artist and lessons teacher at City Voices and Drake University, and is a frequent Music Director at the Des Moines Playhouse and other Community Theatres.

When not teaching, Mr. Record loves to travel the world, direct musicals, act, cook, be outside, and be dog dad to the cutest dogs, Fynn and Theo. Mr. Record is currently working on his Masters of Choral Conducting.

Ms. Francine Griffith

Ms. Griffith has been the choral accompanist at Lincoln High since 2022.

She is a musician/educator in the Des Moines area. Some of her collaboarations include: staff accompanist at Drake University, private piano instructor, musical director and pianist/reptiteur for area theatre productions. Ms. Griffith earned her BME from Drake, studying piano with Chiu-Ling Lin, and has taught Elementry Music in the Waukee School system.
