The Lincoln High School Vocal Music Department offers several opportunities for students to participate in various choral activities, including both non-auditioned and auditioned core choirs and extracurricular choirs.
In this auditioned choir, students will study and perform collegiate-level repertoire while extending and deepening their knowledge and understanding of choral music, music theory, and vocal technique. Members of Chamber Choir will prepare for and audition for Iowa All State Chorus in the fall and tour the city in the winter. Regularly, Chamber Choir performs with outside university and high school choirs and for a plethora of audiences. Chamber Choir is open to students who have successfully completed Treble Choir or Bass Choir and by audition.

Show Choir and Jazz Choir
“Infinity” Show Choir
Our Varsity Show Choir, Infinity, is a highly competitive group that travels throughout the Midwest during their competition season (January through March). Students focus on and perform arrangements of pop, jazz, and musical theatre. Infinity has been a show choir at Lincoln for over 45 years and will continue the competitive tradition for years to come. Show Choir is very unlike our curricular choirs, combining singing and dancing. Show Choir is open to all students by audition.
Our highly competitive Jazz Choir is a select group of sixteen singers who will study and perform the unique style of vocal jazz in several shows and competitions throughout the year across the state of Iowa. Jazz Choir competition season is January through March. Members of Jazz Choir must also be enrolled in a co-curricular choir per IHSMA regulations. Extracurricular
“Sigma” Show Choir is open to students in grades six through eight in our southside middle schools (Brody, McCombs, and Weeks). This relatively new group - which formed in 2016 - meets on Saturday mornings at Lincoln to rehearse. Students focus on choral arrangements of popular, jazz, and musical theater literature. Emphasis is on vocal technique, style, and choreography appropriate to this repertoire. Sigma Show Choir performs in Lincoln’s Winter Reveal Show and two competitions in the Des Moines area each year. Extracurricular
